Praha / Třeboň, February 2nd, 2009 ● American jazz trumpetist Laco Deczi with his band Celula, rapper with guitar Xindl X – newcomer of last season, and fix star Jára Cimrman‘s Theatre – all these artists and many more will offer this year’s edition of yearly organized Festival Okolo Třeboně, running from 26th until 28th of June. Together commemorate another smaller jubilee – for 18th time in festival history Třeboň town will live by folk rock and many other musical scents.
Three stages as in the past editions promise lots of new music. For its first time in history main stage at the chateau yard will host Ivan Hlas, author of hits from cult movie Šakalí léta who will arrive as part of energy loaded trio consisting of cello player Jaroslav Olin Nejezchleba and guitarist Norbi Kovács. Commited participation was aslo promised by groups Rybičky 48 and top czech folk-rock group from Liberec, Jarret. Promised particiapation but yet not confirmed have Divokej Bill – popular band which will in Třeboň kick off their summer tour.
„Today it‘ s more than clear that this year’s edition of festival will be very exceptional: due to czech law with 18 years man becomes mature hence full-aged. Original identity card which will prove festival qualification – mental as well as physical – will our event receive from its visitors and listeners“, says Pavel Barnáš, dramaturgist and festival director.
Organizers lay importance on competiton Houpací kůň (Rocking Horse) with additional title „all have their lows and their ups“ and this saying applies not just in life but in music aswell. New young bands become opportunity to push off – by broadcasting their works in radio and chance of performances at related festivals such as Lodenica in Piešťany, Slovakia or Muzika in Hrádek u Rokycan. Among winners of past editions feature e.g. Ivo Cicvárek with Žofie Kabelková, Hromosvod and Pavel Houfek Band. „Bands which would like to „swing on the horse“ are welcome to send us their demos until 1st of March, that’s when deadline finishes“, specifies Pavel Barnáš.

One of this year’s novelties will be waiting on stage hosting folk and related genres. Recitals will have common theme and that is Hlasy. Vistiors hear past year’s winner of Zahrada, vocal quartett Přelet MS, Brno’s group Mošny or one of the most distinct face of in-going generation – Marien from Pardubice with band master Víťa Troníček, which is partly tieynig on famous Poupata.
„Present to 18th Birthday becomes our festival from folk-rock band Jarret: as a part of the Hlasy theme will be perfoming in 4 head line-up as in 1996 where beside Singer Hana Skřivánková dominated guitarist, author of majority of songs and singer of the group Bohouš Vašák“, invites Pavel Barnáš.

Festival joins with it’s structure the accross-the-country rock competition named RGM Live Space which main aim is laid on dicovering bands and groups which did not get chance to show off yet. Winners shall be choosed by jury consisting of e.g. moderator Pavel Anděl, Milan Cais from band Tata Bojs, Jan Čechtický of Ohm Square or former member of cult band Lucie Michal Dvořák and are promised to get help with releasing album, making of video-clip streamed on music channel TV Óčko, music single will be backed by Rádio Kiss and finally group will be perfoming at Czech TV programme Noc s Andělem and organizers gurantee tour and participation at other music festivals.
„Groups and bands which essentially go through financial crisis will be of advantage at this year’s edition of Okolo Třeboně as well as ‚bio-bands‘. Although we celebrate 18th Birthday our aim is not to burden living enviroment and beautiful landscape of Třeboň by over-rioting this holiday“, remarks Pavel Barnáš.
To traditionaly appearing performers belong god-fathers such as folk band Nezmaři and Jára Cimrman‘s Theatre which will premiere here their first-run theatre play named České nebe (Czech Heaven). Permanent place in program take as every year Třeboňští pištci, Jára Cimrman’s benefit-run lark & funny bicycle race Okolo Třeboně, theatres for children and Ozvěny AniFestu.
